Wollongong City Council has been working with the community on a plan called the West Dapto Access Strategy that will make getting to and from West Dapto easier for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.  Part of this Strategy is the Fowlers Road to Fairwater Drive project, which will provide a flood free access to West Dapto and future residential development areas.

Council engaged NSW Public Works to provide design management (completed), project management support for early construction works (Stage 1 - completed) and construction management/contract administration of the main construction works (Stages 2 & 3).  Several difficult site constraints have been managed in the early construction phases including floodplains, acid sulphate soils, aboriginal heritage, and existing major infrastructure including railway lines, high voltage electricity and major water and sewerage lines.

NSW Public Works have also been engaged by Council to complete all aspects of the property acquisition works required for delivery of the project.
