The scale of impact of the recent flooding in northern NSW and Sydney is extensive, with thousands of homes affected, many of which have been declared uninhabitable. A key priority has been to deal with the enormous amount of waste generated. The experience gained from the 2019-20 bushfires and 2021 flood clean-up programs has enabled PWA to quickly establish disaster recovery centres, implement a waste processing strategy and activate a kerb-side waste collection process, within a few days of waters receding from flooded towns.
